Keep in Control With the Right BMX Steering Gear
Having a setup that responds exactly as you need it to is important for every BMX rider. This is where the steering comes in. Like all parts of the BMX, the gear is built to be sturdy and durable.
Although you will do your turning with the handlebars, there are a lot of different components that influence your steering. For example, your fork is ultimately responsible for how snappy your steering feels. Meanwhile, the top cap helps your headset stay in place, and ensures that your bars can rotate smoothly.
Can BMX Handlebars Be Raised?
In most instances, yes! All you need are BMX Tools and an Allen key. Firstly, you will want to loosen the screws holding the stem in place. Then you will need to loosen the compression bolt. Once these have been loosened, simply slide the stem from the steering tube.
Next, you’ll need to adjust the bars to your preferred height. You can do this with the help of spacers. Simply add as many spacers as it takes to your steering tube so that your bar and stem reach your desired height.
When you are happy with this, put the stem back into its original position and tighten it again. Finally, align the stem so that the handlebar is in line with the fork. However, if you are not able to reach the desired height using spacers, you might want to consider a higher bar or a top load stem with more rise.
